Clean & Unclean

Does being a Christian matter about my diet?

(3 John 1:2) “Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.

Can what I do affect my relationship with Christ?

Note: (1 Corinthians 10:31) “Whether therefore ye eat , or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God...  (1 Corinthians 6:19-20) “What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? 20 For ye are bought with a price: Therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's."

Is there any instruction given by God, what we must and must not eat?

Note: Yes! (Deuteronomy 14:3) “Thou shalt not eat any abominable thing.” God said that we must Not eat abominable things. This lesson will go over the things that are not accepted to God.

What kind of animals did He instructed us to eat?

(Deuteronomy 14:4, 5) “These are the beasts which ye shall eat: the ox, the sheep, and the goat, 6 And every beast that parteth the hoof, and cleaveth the cleft into two claws, and cheweth the cud among the beasts, that ye shall eat." ... Note: The instructions are given, only eat the animals that have both features, split hoof and chew the cud.

What kind of animals we are not allowed to eat?

(Deuteronomy 14:7) “Nevertheless these ye shall not eat of them that chew the cud, or of them that divide the cloven hoof; as the camel, and the hare, and the coney: for they chew the cud, but divide not the hoof; therefore they are unclean unto you.

But pig has a split hoof can I eat it?

(Deuteronomy 14:8) “And the swine, because it divideth the hoof, yet cheweth not the cud, it is unclean unto you: ye shall not eat of their flesh, nor touch their dead carcase."... Note: No! We are not supposed to eat pig because even though it has a split hoof, it doesn’t chew the cud. The bible teaches strongly against the eating of pigs flesh. (Isaiah 66:17) reads, “They that sanctify themselves… Eating swine's flesh, and the abomination, and the mouse, shall be consumed together, saith the Lord.”

What about seafood, can I eat crabs and shrimp?

(Deuteronomy 14:9) “These ye shall eat of all that are in the waters: all that have fins and scales shall ye eat: ... Note: No! Crabs and shrimp are not supposed to be eaten; only those that has both scales and fins.

What about when Jesus gave Peter unclean animals to eat, isn’t that proof that we are free to eat whatever?

Note: No! (Acts 10:17) clearly stated that “Peter doubted” to find the meaning of the vision. Then in Acts 10:28,... Peter gave the interpretation to Cornelius, and said these words, “but God hath shewed me that I should not call any man Common or unclean.” It was a Jewish custom to not sit or visit with Gentiles who were viewed as unclean people! God knew that, so then He gave Peter the vision showing him that anyone that accepts Him (Christ) is not unclean. This has nothing to do with food!

The Bible says that is not what goes in a man that defiles him, but what comes out!

Note: Jesus in (Mat. 15:19, 20) Clear stated that “unwashed hands does defile a man, but commandments breaking.”... Note: Jesus wasn’t talking about food; it’s about His disciples eating without washing their hands and was accused of defiling.
